Tension over reproductive health bill escalates

MANILA, Philippines---Appealing for sobriety, Malacañang on Sunday sought to heal a widening rift between Church and State over the controversial parenthood bill that last week saw prelates threatening civil disobedience and President Benigno Aquino III warning he would jail them.

philippine history has always shown us that the church has a major grip on the people.  since the spanish time, the church has been very vocal about their say on how and why should the people act and decide on matters of importance.  sometimes i cant help thinking if the church realizes that we, the filipinos are not stupid and have our own capacities to decide on things that concern us.  all they should do is make sure that we are GUIDED with the HAND OF GUIDANCE and not force upon us what they deem is right.

or maybe they should first clean up their own acts and ranks before doing us the favor of thinking ahead about what is good and what is bad for our souls.
